Dr. Susan Lea-Makenny’s passion for caring for others has spanned over more than four decades of community & “executive” medical experience, practicing in both rural and city settings across Alberta. Formerly a registered nurse, her journey as a practitioner has always been centered around the integration of physical and mental well-being, with special interest in psychological health.
Susan believes that primary care and integrative medicine needs to be a full integration of all realms of health - making it truly about whole person care.

A highly-family oriented mother to two daughters and wife to a generational rancher - Dr. Susan is inspired through her strong admiration for nature, horses, travel, and continual learning. She is excited about how AI and genomics will help form the best personalized health care, invoking meaningful impact within the medical community.
Julie is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner committed to providing holistic and patient-centered care. With a Master’s degree in Nursing from Athabasca University and specialized training in integrative health practices, hormonal therapy, and Botox administration (for aesthetics and treatment of migraines, hyperhidrosis, and TMJ) she combines traditional medical approaches with complementary therapies to support overall wellness.
Julie focuses on chronic disease management, preventive care, and mental health collaborating with patients to develop personalized care plans that address their unique health needs. Her approach emphasizes the importance of treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—empowering patients to take an active role in their health journeys.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys playing softball, spending time with her 4 children, and practicing yoga/working out regularly which help maintain a balanced lifestyle. She is excited to continue making a positive impact on the health and vitality of patients at Dr. Susan's Integrative Family Practice for many years to come.

Kate Lomas is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in rural all ages primary care and functional medicine. She graduated from York University in 2005 with BScN Nursing and with experience in Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric acute care and rural pediatric education. She has always had a passion for medicine and decided to further pursue this passion in becoming a Nurse Practitioner and graduated with a MN NP from Athabasca University in 2019. Since graduating Kate has worked as an NP in Internal Medicine as well as primary and acute care travelling to remote Northern Communities. She has a special interest in women’s health, perimenopause, menopause as well as pelvic floor dysfunction and sexual health. She enjoys working with patients to optimize hormones, diet and lifestyles as they address both acute and chronic health care conditions.
Kate has a passion for nutrition and exercise and in her spare time can be found whipping up gluten free/dairy free/ sugar free culinary delights and considers it a huge success when her family reports that they LOVE a new recipe. She lives outside of Calgary with her husband, 2 daughters, 2 dogs (both rescues from northern adventures) and 3 cats. She is an avid hiker and cold plunger and enjoys finding new mountain lakes to take “a dip” when out exploring.

Chey has been working closely with Dr. Susan for over a decade. With a strong commitment to preventative care, she believes the practice's integrative approach fosters positive patient outcomes and promotes longevity.
Starting her career in Pediatric Phlebotomy at Alberta Children’s Hospital, Cheylynn later transitioned to her current role, where she applies her Medical Laboratory background from SAIT and knowledge of integrative lab testing.
Cheylynn is passionate about helping patients navigate challenging situations and values the personal relationships she builds with each client. Her approach is rooted in a genuine desire to see her patients thrive, both in times of wellness and when extra support is needed.
Outside of work, Cheylynn enjoys spending time with her husband, their two daughters, and friends. On weekends, she loves watching her older daughter curl and her younger daughter play soccer, and she never turns down a board game or a good cup of coffee.

Tania was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she completed her Undergraduate Degree at the University Calgary before moving to the big city (Toronto). After having her son and living there for 13 years she decided to move back in 2016 - she truly missed the mountains and sunshine; needed more vitamin D!
She has been at Dr. Susan's Integrative Family Practice since the doors first opened in October 2017. During the Pandemic she obtained her Health Care Management Certificate through Cornell University.
Tania considers herself a frequent flier, having travelled to over 35 countries and still counting.....a huge sports fan who thinks the NFL should be a season all its' own next to Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Fun fact is she owns over 120 pairs of shoes!

With over 14 years of experience in caring for patients of all ages, she brings a unique blend of traditional nursing expertise and a holistic approach. Working in both the hospital and clinic setting for many years, she can offer guidance with navigating the many facets of our healthcare system.
Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Mount Royal University and is an active member of the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Her passion for integrative health is evident in her daily practice, where she advocates for a collaborative approach that empowers patients to take an active role in their health journey. She is a strong supporter of patient education and believes in fostering an empowering environment that promotes healing and wellness.
Outside of work, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her young children, family and friends. You can find her camping west of Calgary on most summer weekends. She is also a lifelong learner who stays up to date with the latest advancements in healthcare and integrative medicine.

Pharyne is a wellness enthusiast and nutrition professional with over a decade of experience guiding individuals toward healthier, more balanced lives through evidence-based nutrition and personalized care. With a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Alberta and Registered Health & Nutrition Coach Certification from the Health Coach Institute, Pharyne combines deep scientific knowledge with a compassionate, patient-centered wholistic approach.
She is extremely committed to understanding each patient’s unique needs whilst crafting tailored nutrition plans that promote overall well-being. Making nutrition advice “digestible” and sustainable in a world of trendy quick fix approaches. Pharyne integrates the latest nutrition research to help patients, and their families make informed dietary choices. Specializing in weight management, digestive health, and chronic disease prevention.
She enjoys enhancing her continual learning by attending nutrition conferences and seminars. Outside of work, she loves to visit local farmers markets for recipe inspiration and always training for an upcoming running race!

Bonnie is delighted to bring her decades of healthcare experience to Dr Susan’s team! She is a pioneer of non-hospital based nursing education, graduating in the second class of the new Red Deer College nursing program. She then went on to complete her post-basic Bachelor of Nursing at University of Calgary, while working as an RN. This included acute care in urban and rural settings (including Australia, Home Care, Occupational Health and Safety), patient and staff education lead to the role as Site Leader at Sundre Hospital, where she first met and worked with Dr Susan!
She loves offering hands-on care - believing that the most important thing is to help people by listening and understanding where they are coming from and including them in the best approach for their optimal health and quality of life!
Patient Services Coordinator
Amandeep was born and raised in a northern hilly state of India. He completed most of his education in his home state. Growing up he was always inclined towards medicine and healthcare. Helping people in improving their wellbeing gives Amandeep joy and hence always wanted to make a career that is connected to healthcare.
Coming to Canada was his dream, one that came to realization in September of 2022. He believes education is always a pathway that enables you to know more about different cultures and practices. Hence, completed two years of Canadian education at Bow Valley College that helped him bind into the inclusive and diverse culture of Canada. Amandeep is still new to the Canadian work culture and environment, and this is where the opportunity to work for Dr. Susan’s Integrative Family practice has helped him initiate his Canadian work experience!

Agnes is a dedicated and skilled laboratory technologist with over five decades of experience in analytical and clinical lab environments. Holding a lab technology certification from Copenhagen Lab Collage and SAIT, Agnes has a strong background in performing complex tests and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of lab results.
Known by her team and patients for her warm demeanour and a meticulous attention to detail, she plays a crucial role in the patient experience at Dr. Susan’s Integrative Family Practice.
Outside of the lab, she is an avid world traveler who enjoys gardening, cooking delicious Danish dishes, and spending time with her loved ones.
